A. ltiprap materials shall be durable stone of a quality suitable to insure permanence in the structure
and in the climate in which it is to be used, in accordance with CDOT Standard Specification
506.02. The stone shall be well graded within the limits specified herein and shall be free from
cracks, seams, and other defects that would unduly increase its deterioration from natural causes.
The inclusion of objectionable quantities of dirt, sand, clay, and rock fines will not be permitted.
Neither the breadth nor the thickness of any piece of stone shall be less than one third of its
length. Occasional pieces of stone slightly lazger than the m~x;mum weight will be permitted
provided the gradation and voids are not unduly affected and that surface tolerances aze met. In
order to meet the structural design requirements for weight, gradation, and layer thickness, stone
for riprap shall have a specific gravity between 2.6 and 2.7.
1. Upstream Face: The rock material shall consist of unweathered stone material that has a Dso
of at least 6 inches It is expected that riprap, if obtained on site, will require breaking of the
existing rock by mechanical means. The material shall be in accordance with CDOT
Standard Specification No. 506.02 for the standazd gradation with Dso equal to 6 inches.

' 2. Outlet Plunge Pool: The rip rap material used for the downstream outlet plunge pool shall
consist of unweathered stone material that has a D50 of at least 6 inches It is expected that
