ASTM D4718, "Standard Practice for Correction of Unit Weight and Water <br />Content for Soils Containing Oversize Particles" <br />' 1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A. At least 2 weeks prior to delivery to Site, CONTRACTOR shall submit to ENGINEER <br />for proof of specification compliance test results for two (2) random samples showing <br />gradation (ASTM D 422) and classification (ASTM D 2487) for DOWNSTREAM <br />DRAINAGE BLANKET FILTER AGGREGATE. Any testing required for <br />determining initial material compliance shall be at the expense of the CONTRACTOR. <br />Identify source of material (i.e. address, vendor, etc.) so that ENGINEER can sample if <br />desired. <br />B. Site Clearing and Grubbing Activities, and calculations of cleared area shall be <br />submitted for proof of specification compliance as part of the Project Record Document <br />Set in accordance with this Section and Section 01780 Project Record Documents. <br />1.04 TESTING BY COMPANY <br />A. CONTRACTOR shall provide COMPANY or COMPANY'S Representative safe access <br />to the Work and materials to be tested, in accordance with the following minimum <br />provisions: <br />All fill material used will be assessed on a regular basis by COMPANY or <br />COMPANY'S Representative. One gradation test on granular soils and one <br />gradation test and one Atterberg limit test on cohesive soils for every 2,000 cubic <br />yards of material, or as determined by COMPANY, will be performed. <br />COMPANY or COMPANY'S Representative will reject all material which does <br />not conform to the material specifications herein as required for each fill zone. <br />Rejected material placed in the embankment shall be removed at <br />CONTRACTOR's expense. <br />2. Prior to placing fill, in-place moisture content tests of existing clay on the existing <br />dam will be taken by COMPANY or COMPANY's Representative on a regular <br />basis. One test will be obtained at intervals of approximately 100 feet before new <br />clay is placed over the existing clay. Material moisture content above or below the <br />optimum moisture shall be adjusted by CONTRACTOR at CONTRACTOR'S <br />expense. <br />02300-2 <br />
