Rock fragments range from <br />0 to 15 percent. <br />4.7.3.2 Havre Series <br />The Havre series consists of deep, moderately fine textured, <br />well-drained soils. These soils formed in alluvium derived <br />from sandstone and shale. Elevation range is 5,250 to 5,500 <br />feet. Annual precipitation is about 10 inches. The mean annual <br />soil temperature ranges from 40° to 47°F, and the frost free per- <br />iod is 105 to 135 days. The native vegetation is a greasewood- <br />shrubland community and an agricultural community. <br />' The Havre series is a member of the fine-loamy, mixed (calcareous), <br />frigid family of Ustic Torrifluvents. A representative profile <br />of the Havre loam, sample point MU11 in map unit GdAB, about 300 <br />feet west and 370 feet south of the center of Section 29, T. 7 S., <br />R. 102 W, at an elevation of 5,298 feet is: <br />Ap 0 to 5 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) loam, brown <br />(lOYR 5/3) moist; moderate thin platy structure; <br />soft, very friable, slightly sticky and plastic; <br />calcareous; many fine and medium roots; pH 7.7; <br />gradual smooth boundary. <br />C1 5 to 20 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) fine sandy <br />loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; weak fine sub- <br />angular blocky parting to fine granular structure; <br />soft, very friable, slightly stick and slightly <br />
