d (a'r a(inr
® 2003 I~-dematfo~+ Report
C'eGrnarp 74, 2004
Pnge 3
Due to very limited site activities (inspection only in Kerr South Area), site inspections indicated
no need for ongoing road maintenance activities, other [han ditch repair and clean-out during
2003.
5.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Topsoiling and mulch seeding was conducted in 1999 on approximately 6.5 acres within the Mine
Area including the designated disposal area on the southeast edge of the shop/warehouse facilities
pad and the former powder magazine area, soil stockpile area, and associated road. These areas
were seeded in 2000 by inter-seeding the permanent seed mix (Table 67A) into the standing mulch.
The application rate was at the prescribed rate for both grasses (11.5 pounds per acre) and shmbs
and (orbs (5.75 pounds per acres). Four small areas; one in the southwest corner of the Pit 1 area;
one in the north end of the Marr Pit area; one on the ridge to the west of the Marr Pit area; and
one on the north slope of Pond A; were inter-seeded during 2003 to enhance vegetative growth.
6.0 NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL
All areas were inspected during spring 2003 and minor occurrences of thistle were hand dug and
destroyed and/or sprayed during the spring.
7.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
Kerr conducted regular routine inspection and maintenance for al] ponds, ditches and other
drainage and control structures. The minor disturbance associated with routine maintenance and
repair of drainages and terraces in 1999 and the areas of rifling and gullying in Pit 1, the pre-1986
reclamation area (Marr Pit area), and on the north slope of Pond A required minor repair, clean-
out, and inter-seeding during 2003.
In 2002, EFCI completed a program to identify, plug, seal, and reclaim a number of old
exploration boreholes and alluvial monitoring wells, primarily in the Kerr North Area north of the
Coun[y Aoad. Work was completed in la[e October 2002.
8.0 TOPSOIL STOCKPILES
There are approximately 3.3 acres of topsoil stockpiles remaining at the Mine Area. No material
removal or reclamation was conducted in these areas in 2003.
9.0 SURFACE FACILITIES
As shown on the 2003 Reclamation Map, the remaining permanent facilities (roads, buildings, and
ponds) in the Mine Area cover approximately 35 acres. Permanent facilities in the Loadout Area
cover approximately 6 acres.
10.0 LOADOUT AREA
Final reclamation activities were completed for the Loadout r\rea (approximately 5 acres) during
1999. The Loadout Area was re-seeded in October 2000 and good growth was evident during the
bond release inspection in Ma}' 2001.
