ib[mr dliue
© 200j Redmuntlou Rejrar!
PrGrnmy~ lJ, 200d
Pape 2
Cleaned inlet and outlet of culvert under the main access road in Pond D drainage, pushed
material that had built-up in a delta at pond inlet to pond margins, and repaired existing
pond baffle
• Cleaned ditch along main access road between Pond D culvert crossing and shop area
• Hand-cleaned minor sediment build-up in relatively flat section of inlet ditch fox Pond F
Aggressive noxious weed control measures were implemented in 2000 in several areas to control
and eliminate localized weed infestations. These measures have generally been effective, and year
2003 weed control activities were limited to inspection, manual control (digging and disposal), and
limited spraying of scattered occurrences of thistle (primarily Canadian and scotch thistle).
Spraying occurred in the spring and was planned for the fall, but the fall spraying was not
completed. Areas where weed control activities occurred included the bottoms of the 720 Pit and
Pit 1 reclaimed areas, the ridge on the west side of the 720 Pit, the margins of the shop area and
along the main access road, and along the railroad right-of--way and in the vicinity of the shop
building in the Loadout area. EFCI obxained DMG approval for grazing, but coordination
problems with the ranch operator limited actual grazing to two days (500 head) in mid-October
(10/14-10/15).
During 2002, EFCI coordinated with the DMG, BLM, and OSMRE to identify, plug, seal, and
reclaim a number of old exploration boreholes and alluvial monitoring wells, primarily in the Kerr
North Area north of the County Road. This work was completed in October 2002. Map 1, 2003
Reclamation Map, outlines the general location and extent of site maintenance and reclamation
activities completed during 2003. These activities are described in more detail in the following
sections.
1.0 MINING AND TOPSOIL REMOVAL
Active mining operations at the Marr Mine ceased in January- 1993 and no mining or significant
topsoil removal activities have occurred subsequent to that date.
2.0 BACKFILLING AND REGRADING
No backfilling or re-grading was conducted in new areas at the Marr Mine or Loadout during 2002.
3.0 OVERBURDEN STOCKPILES
The primary overburden stockpile at the Marr Mine was removed and [he associated disturbance
area reclaimed in 1993-94 in conjunction with reclamation of the 720 Pit. No overburden
stockpiles remain at the Marr Mine.
4.0 ROADS
In the Mine area, the width of both the main haul road and the access road across Bush Draw were
reduced in 1995. The remaining road segments arc classified as permanent and tcmporar}~ light-
usc roads, respectively, for post-reclamation access. No construction or further reclamation work
was conducted on pcrmanem or temporary roads during 2003.
