- Wedge Coal. Wedge coal walla exhibit the same typrcal seasonal variations as the
previous aquifers discussed. Dua to low a~luifer tranamissivitiea (range 0.07 to 0.36 •
ftZ/day), rater camp ling may mask normal xate:r level fluctuations. Wells WW3, WW4 (South
Expana ion area), 14 and 17 all exhibit an in=lease in rater levels over the peat several
yeazs. Wells WW16 and 18 have recently displayed decreasing rater levels.
- wolf Creek Coal. Wells WWC3 and WWC4 (South Expansion area) both ezhibrt on increase rn
water levels over the past several years.
Ground Water Level Summary. Host aquifers at Seneca II-W exhibit a typical aeaa onal
fluctuation. Water levels aze highest after the spring rvnoff, which recharges the
aquifer. Often, bedrock aquifers exhibit a lag time between spring runoff and highest
water levala. Water levels then decrease ae late summer or fall approaches. Thra yeac,
most bedrock walla drsplayed either normal or higher than normal rater levels, however,
Wells wOV1E, WW16, and WW1E have recently displayed decreasing rater levels.
Water Quality. Table 3, Summary of Ground Water Monitoring Walla, desccibea the walls
that rera sampled, the sample frequency during thin year, and site chazacteria tics. Table
4 ahoxs the ground rater pazameter list used for all walla. Analyaee have been performed
by ACZ laboratory in Steamboat Springs, Colorado since Hay 31, 1983. ACZ Laboratory
performs all analyses by EPA or equivalent ma thodn. Samples are delivered the day oP
collection to the lab in an iced cooler. Honi to ring frequencies for ground rater quality
may be found on Page 15-3-3 of the Seneca II-W PAP.
The following dissuasion of the analytical d-ita collected during the reporting period is
arranged by strata being monitored and coincides with the format (by aquifer type) in
which the analytical data are presented in Appendix D. The following diacueaion of water
quality will limit itself to a description of total dissolved solids (TDS). A separate
section, Comparison of Ground Water Quality to Water Use 9tandazda, will list those
samples that exceed rater use etandazdn.
Data fox each cell in Appendiz D begins with a listing of the rater quality data collected
during this yeaz, followed by remarks explaining the sampling procedure. After the
remarks ie a statistic report representing bneelim (i.e., premining) data for each cell
(whets applicable). On Chia etatia lice report, ''censored data" ref era to analytical
values that rera below the detection limit, which were censored from the min/mar/a~aan •
Q
