calculations The time frame for baeeltne conditions to listed under 'r_ondrtions
specaf red" a[ [he bottom of each page. This is followed by a plot of TDS versus time for
the entire period of record. The regression line on this plot is generated by a method
known ere LOWESS (Locally Weighted Scatter plot Smoothing). A smoothness factor of 1 lon a
scale of 0 to 3) was used, which gives mazimum smoothing. Finally, this plot is followed
by a table lis [rng hlstorrc TDS values and percent mxlliequi valents for ma]or tons.
- Alluvium. Three wells monitor the Hubbe rson Glil ch alluvium. Well WHAL6-2 is upstream
of mine discharges. Its TDS plot shows a stable trend since 1989. This is lakely due to
the fact that this pasture has been irrigated stazting in 1989. Well WFIA1.7-2 exists on
Hubberson Gulch downstream of mine discharges from NPDES 006. Its TDS plot shove a slight
increasing trend. Well WHAL10 exists on 006 Gulch (a eubberson Gulch tributary) below
NPDES 006. TDS values at thrs wall display an increasrng trend.
One well monrtors the 005 Gulch alluvium (tributary to Dzy Creek). This well, WDAL11, is
normally dry.
Severn tells moor [ot the Sage Creek alluvium. Well WSAL12 is located on Sage Creek
ad]acent to Surface Water Site FG4 and ie downstream of all potential mine discharges.
TDS values at this well have been increasing since it was drilled in 1990. Nell WSAL13 is
located below NPDES 009 on the northern Saga Creek tributary (this NPDES sate started
flowing for the first time ever in 1996) . It displays a decreasing TDS trend. Well
WSALl< exists on the southern Sage Creak trabu Gary below the proposed NPDES 015 pond III-W
South Expansion azea). Honi toting tae resumed at this well in Nay 199E after being
discontrnued in Oetober 1995. This wall, so far, hen not been impacted by mining. Walls
YSAL1, 3, 8, and 17 are also part of SCC's Yoaet Mine monitoring network and are all
upstream of Seneca II-W. Since no mine related discharges from Yoaet have yet occurred at
Sage Creek, TDS values at these four wells are a result of natural conditions.
in the Probable Hydrologic Consequences section (PHC, Tab 17) of the Seneca II-W PAP,
predictions were made for the June-September average TDS values at vazioue alluvial cells.
In the eubberson Cinch alluvium at Well WHAL7-2, a value of 1299 mg/1 was predicted, while
a value of 1G50 mg/1 was observed true yeaz. In the 006 Gulch alluvium at Well WEN.10, a
value of 3390 mg/1 was predicted, rhile a value of 2520 my/1 tae observed this yeaz. In
the Sage Creek alluvium at Well WSAL12, a value of 972 mg/1 tae predicted, while a value
• of 770 mg/1 was observed this year
5
