Of the 1318.7 pounds per acre of herbaceous production in this area in 2004, 38.9 pounds per <br />acre were from alfalfa. <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />{Table 6) <br />There were 1,125 stems per acre of woody plants in 2000 Reclamation in 2004. Saskatoon <br />serviceberry averaged 680 stems per acre and chokecherry (Padus virginiana ssp. melanocarpa) <br />averaged 340 stems per acre. <br />2002 Reclaimed Area <br />(Photographs 9-12) <br />COVER <br />(Tabfe.7} <br />Sixty percent of total vegetation cover was composed by introduced annual and biennial fortis in <br />2004. Dominant within this lifeform were Jim Hill mustard (Sisymbrium altissimum), pennycress <br />(Thlaspi arvense), and twolobe speedwell averaging between 1l5'" and '/. of cover for the lifeform <br />each. Native perennial cool season grasses averaged 17.4 percent of total vegetation cover. <br />Thickspike wheatgrass and slender wheatgrass (Elymus trachycaulus) were the two dominants in <br />this lifeform. With 8 percent of total vegetation cover, introduced perennial cool season grasses <br />ranked third in total vegetation cover in 2004. Orchardgrass (Dactylis glowmerata) occupied the <br />bulk of cover in this group. <br />Total vegetation cover was 26.6 percent. Standing dead, litter, bare soil, and rock averaged 2.47, <br />13.53, 46.6, and 10.8 percents, respectively. Species density averaged 24.2 species per 100 <br />sq.m. <br />PRODUCTION <br />(Table 8) <br />2002 reclamation averaged 754.8 pounds per acre of herbaceous production in 2004. 19.4 <br />pounds per acre were attributable to alfalfa. <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />(Table 9) <br />There were an average of 166 stems per acre in 2004.
