PRODUCTION <br />(Table 2) <br />Total herbacepus production in 2004 was 1820.1 pounds per acre. Of this, 6 pounds per acre <br />were alfalfa (Medicago sativa). <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />(Table 3) <br />Total woody plant density in 1997 Reclamation in 2004 was 833.7 stems per acre. Snowberry <br />(Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) was the most dense, averaging 313.6 stems per acre. Saskatoon <br />serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) also averaged over 100 stems per acre while big sagebrush <br />(Seriphidium tridentatum) averaged just under 100 stems per acre. Seven other species of shrub <br />were present with densities of under 100 stems per acre. <br />2000 Reclaimed Area <br />(Photographs 5-8) <br />COVER <br />(Table 4) <br />Introduced annuals dominated the vegetation composition in the 2000 reclaimed area in 2004. <br />. Introduced annual and biennial species averaged 26 percent of total vegetation cover, the total <br />primarily composed of twolobe speedwell (Pocilla biloba) and yellow sweetclover (Melilotus <br />officinalis). Introduced annual grasses averaged 24.7 percent of total vegetation cover. Of this <br />9/10ths was Japanese brome (Bromus japonicus). Native perennial cool season grasses <br />composed 19% of total vegetation cover. Four-fifths of this was mountain brome (Ceratochloa <br />carinata). Introduced perennial (orbs and introduced perennial cool season grasses each <br />averaged 10% of total vegetation cover. Bull thistle, houndstongue, and Canada thistle were also <br />observed in the area. <br />Total vegetation cover was 45.6 percent. Cover by standing dead, litter, bare soil, and rock was <br />3.4, 23.4, 24.4, and 3.2 percents, respectively.
