In summary, there are no apparent
impacts to Goodspring Creek that are attributable to the
mining operation.
Taylor Creek
Typical of dry years and the sporadic flows found in the
drainage, Taylor Creek showed very low and intermittent flow.
No significant changes in quality have been noticed to date.
GROIINDWATER
To monitor any potential groundwater impacts due to the
Gossard Coal Loadout facilities, Colowyo currently utilizes
one down gradient monitoring well (Gossard Well). To monitor
any potential groundwater impacts due to mining activities,
Colowyo currently utilizes one down gradient monitoring well
(North Goodspring Well) and one up gradient monitoring well
(A-3 Well).
Gossard Well
This well continues to show very little fluctuations in
water quality. The analyses do not indicate any potential
problems with the groundwater associated with the Gossard Coal
Loadout Facilities.
North Goodsprin4 Well
Sampling of the North Goodspring Well began in September
1989.
