Mom hliue- 2002 Redamatrat Ref~or[
© Jmmary 17, 2003
Page 2
1.0 MINING AND TOPSOIL REMOVAL
Active mining operations at the Mart Mine ceased in January 1993 and no mining or significant
topsoil removal activities have occurred subsequent to that date.
2.0 BACKFILLING AND REGRADING
No backfilling or re-grading was conducted in new areas at the Marr Mine or Loadout during 2002.
3.0 OVERBURDEN STOCKPILES
The primary overburden stockpile at the Maxr Mine was removed and the associated disturbance
area reclaimed in ]993-94 in conjunction with reclamation of the 720 Pit. No overburden
stockpiles remain at the Marr Mine.
4.0 ROADS
In the Mine area, the width of both the main haul road and the access road across Bush Draw were
reduced in 1995. The remaining road segments are classified as permanent and temporary light-
use roads, respectively, fox post reclamation access. No construction or further reclamation work
was conducted on permanent or temporary roads during 2002. Due to dry conditions and very
limited site activities (inspection only in Kerr South Axea), site inspections indicated no need for
ongoing road maintenance activities during 2002.
5.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Topsoiling and mulch seeding was conducted in 1999 on approximately 6.5 acres within the Mine
Area including the designated disposal area on the southeast edge of the shop/warehouse facilities
pad and the former powder magazine area, soil stockpile area, and associated road. These areas
were seeded in 2000 by inter-seeding the permanent seed mix (Table 67A) into the standing mulch.
The application rate was at the prescribed rate for both grasses (11.5 pounds per acre) and shrubs
and fortis (5.75 pounds per acres). Two small areas, one on the southwest side of the Pit 1 area,
and the other in the north end of the Maxr Pit area were intexseeded during 2002 to enhance
vegetative growth.
6.0 NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL
All areas were inspected during spring 2002 and several minor occurrences of thistle were hand
dug and destroyed.
7.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
Kerr conducted regular routine inspection and maintenance for all ponds, ditches and other
drainage and control structures. The minor disturbance associated with routine maintenance and
repair of drainages and terraces in 1999 and one of the areas of rilling and gulling in the pre-1986
reclamation area that was repaired and reseeded in 2000 remained stable and were in good
condition. No follow-up maintenance or repairs were necessary in 2002 for these areas.
Continued rilling and gullying of one of the areas that was repaired and reseeded in 2000 and an
additional small area in the pre-1986 reclamation area required additional repairs in late 2000.
u 1Y'TA'.M.C.W~afTA+u.n+;. a..:W x.dmww~zm?
!/I)/03jq.
