tank at discharge point 001. Discharge from the Cameo No. 1 Mine
continued on a regular basis from discharge point 004. Data
pages SD-2, SE-1, SF-4 and SF-5 contain the results of monitoring
on the three active discharge points for the year and Tables
589-9 and 589-10 contain flow information. Further information
on the mine water discharge is given in the Mine Water section of
this report. The following is a list of the average quality and
total flow discharged during the year:
Point pH TDS TSS TFe Discharge
001 8. 64 635mg/L <10mg/L 0.14mg/L 10.88 MG
002 7.69 2139 <10 0.68 35.73
001 8.44 1807 <10 0.21 46.08
GROUND WATER
The ground water monitoring piezometers located on Cottonwood and
Rapid Creeks were monitored in May and September. Results of
monitoring are given on data page GA-1. The following is a
comparison of this year's readings with the averages for the past
four (4) years.
Location May 189 May Ave. Sept 189 Sept Ave.
GWMS-01A 6.1 5.4 7.5 7.0
-01B 7.3 7.1 9.0 8.3
• -02A 16.3 16.4 16.8 17.6
-02B 17:5 17.1 21.5 20.3 _
-03A 10.6 9.6 11.8 10.2
-03B 9.3 8.7 10.4 9.5
All but GWMS-02A showed the same trend as flow in the creeks -
lower than average and lower than last year.
Piezometers on the Cameo Refuse Disposal Area No. 1 are monitored
quarterly. Results of this monitoring is given on data pages
GC-1. The following is a listing of the average water levels for
the last 6 years:
Water Year CRDA-01 CRDA-02 CRDA-03
1984 4866.4 4854.2 4863 .3
1985 4865.1 '4853 .0 4860.5
1986 4864.9 4854.4 4863.2
1987 4863.9 4855.6 4863.9
1988 4863.9 4854.7 4862.5
1989 4863 .3 4852.5 4860.2
The concern that our former surface drainage pattern on the pile
was the cause of the high water levels does not appear to be
valid. The effect of major regrading for drainage 1988 is hard
•
to distinguish from the general pattern or declining water levels
and the effect of lower than normal precipitation.
