• gage at its adjacent Seneca II Mine. Data for this year are included on Table 1. A
summary of all data collected at that station is provided here in Table 2.
Data from the National Climatic Data Center for the Hayden Station was used to evaluate
the precipitation trend. For this year, 16.14 inches of precipitation was measured, which
was 0.70 inches (481 leas than the 1961-1990 average. All months but October, January,
Febrvary, March, April, and June were below average. Snowpack runoff, as estimated by
totaling November through April precipitation values, was 9.52 inches, which was 1.11
inches (138) above the 1961-1990 average. Tha high spring runoff observed this year vas
in part augmented by saturated soil conditions that were caused by the high rainfall
observed in September 1997.
Ground Water
Water Levels. Table 3 provides a summary of ground water monitoring sites at the Yoast
Mine. Water level data aze provided in Appendix B. Water level reports for this year ate
presented immediately after the rater level hydrograph of all data since 1991. Water
• level measurements are collected rith an'electrical water level indicator or a steel tape.
Pressure readings '(in psi) obtained from floring wells with pressure gages axe multiplied
by 2.31 to obtain head in feet:' The current ground rater monitoring program ie presented
in Table 15-8 of the Yoast Mine YAP.
Alluvium. One well, YAAL14, monitors the Armand Drar alluvium. FOUi rolls, YGAL15 to 18,
monitor the Greasy Creek alluvium. Nine walla; YSAL1 to 6, B, 10 and 12; monitor the Saga
Creek alluvium. All well water levels exhibit the typical seasonal fluctuation,
increasing water levels in the spring followed by deczeaaing rater levels in the auger
and fall.
Lennox Overburden. Two sells, YIgV3 and 4, monitor the Lennox overburden in the Sage
Creek basin. Both wells are flowing and fitted rith pressure gages. Pressure
measurements by SCC began in August 1994.
Lennox Coal. Two wells, YL5 and 6, monitor the Lennox coal seam in the Sage Creek basin.
Both wells are flowing and are fitted with pressure gages. Pressure measurements by SCC
• began in August 1994.
3
