L~
1.2 Spring Water Monitoring
' The locations of known springs in the Mt. Gunnison
Environmental Study Area, an area extending approxi-
' mately one mile beyond the coal lease boundary, are
' shown on Exhibit II. During Water Year 1982, springs
on the northern half of the Dry Fork basin were moni-
' tored monthly for rate of discharge, pH, temperature
and conductivity when weather conditions would permit
t monitoring in order to comply with MLRD Permit Stipu-
' lation No. 17, and OSM Stipulation 21. These springs
are labeled on Exhibit II. Likewise, springs within
the 5-year permit area and adjacent area were monitored
quarterly for flow and water quality. These springs
' are designated on Exhibit II.
A representative sample of springs outside the permit
area were monitored semiannually for flow and water
quality. These springs are shown on Exhibit II. The
' Oliver Mine ad it was destroyed by road construction and
reclamation activities and thus not sampled in 1983. A
' listing of the water quality analysis for the water
year is contained in the Quarterly Reports. Spring
discharge rates are included in the quarterly reports
' and presented graphically in the spring geology and
hydrology report prepared by WATEC in February, 1984.
-8-
