1

' 1.3 Ground Water Monitoring
' During Water Year 1983 water levels were monitored
monthly at 18 wells when weather permitted. The loca-
' tion of these wells are shown on Exhibit I.
The two wells, WR-2 and WR-3 were completed above and
below the initial waste rock pile. Monthly water l evel
'
recordings were initiated in September 1981. Well WR-2
was destroyed in June 1982 during construction of the
parking lot and shop wareho use. A new well, WR-2 was
' completed in November, 1982 at a location 49 feet up-
slope of the original well.
'
Well water level hydrographs from January, 1982 through
' Water Year 1983 are provided in Appendix C. Water
' levels and corresponding monitoring dates are tabulated
in the quarterly monitoring reports.
' Wells SOM-38-H-1 and SOM-38-H-2 were obstructed. Ob-
structions were cleared in October, 1981. However,
both wells, plus wells SOM-2 and SOM-16, have continued
' to pose problems in obtaining reliable water level
' measurements. At times, heavy condensation in these
wells prevents reliable use of the electric sounder.

-9
