2. Backfilling in Progress
During the 1991 reporting year, all of the overburden excavated from the north
end of Pit 1 was backfilled into the south end of Pit 1 (approximately 364,500
BCY). However, the placement of backfill, dictated by the pit configuration, did
not allow any area to be final contoured or reclaimed according to the
approved final configuration as depicted in Pit 1 Backfill Modification TR-07
(July 18, 1990).
Kerr is continuing to backfill material from the overburden stockpile into the
720 Pit. Approximately 440,100 CCY were placed in the northern portion of
the 720 Pit with trucks and a dozer. The backfilling has not reached a point
where final grading can be accomplished.
Overall, a total of approximately 804,600 yards of overburden have been
backfilled into Pit 1 and the 720 Pit during this reporting period.
3. Regraded
At the northern edge of the 720 Pit, 5.09 acres are backfilled and have
been regraded to approximate original contour. This area will be
topsoiled and reseeded when enough area is prepared to assure no
further disturbance will occur on the reclaimed area (a buffer zone).
Refer to the 1991 Reclamation Map, (Map 1).
4. Topsoiled and Mulch Planted
No new areas were topsoiled and reseeded with stubble mulch during
the year.
2
