INTRODUCTION
This report describes all disturbance and reclamation activities which have
occurred at the Kerr Mine emphasizing those activities which occurred during the
period of October 1, 1990 through September 30, 1991. As in previous years, the
market for coal has remained soft, resulting in relatively low production rates. Coal
production at the Kerr Mine for the year was approximately 62,400 tons or seven
percent of permitted capacity. Total overburden removed and backfilled in the
` south end of Pit 1 was approximately 364,500 BCY. Approximately 440,100 CCY
were removed from the existing overburden stockpile and placed in the 720 Pit
backfill. No new areas were backfilled to their approximate original contour,
graded, retopsoiled, or revegetated during the year.
All mining activities during the year were confined to the previously disturbed Pit
No. 1 area. No new disturbance was created during the year.
LOCATION AND SIZE OF AFFECTED AREAS
1. Mining and Topsoil Removal
No new areas were disturbed and no topsoil was removed during 1991.
The total active mine area at Pit No. 1 is 28.29 acres. Mining is
completed in the 720 Pit area and no new disturbance associated with
the 720 Pit has occurred. A total of 43.73 acres remains open for future
backfilling. The areas described above are shown on the 1991
Reclamation Map, (Map 1).
1
