5. Previously Reclaimed Area
Prior to 1987, a total of 109.09 acres had been revegetated with
perennials. Please note that this excludes a portion of the pre-1981
reclamation which was redisturbed by Pit No. 1 mining activities. In
addition, all topsoil stockpiles, sedimentation ponds and ditches have
been revegetated with perennial grasses or annuals as appropriate.
These areas are shown on the 1991 Reclamation Map, (Map 1).
6. Drainage and Sediment Control Facilities
No new sedimentation ponds, ditches or other drainage control facilities
were constructed during 1991. The total area affected by the seven
existing sedimentation ponds is 16.71 acres, and the eight existing
drainage ditches cover 5.19 acres; totalling 21.90 acres of disturbance
associated with drainage and sediment control facilities. These areas
are shown on the 1991 Reclamation Map, (Map 1).
7. Soil Stockpiles
There are nine soil stockpiles located on the Kerr Mine Area, covering
18.03 acres. They are shown on the 1991 Reclamation Map, (Map 1).
No new stockpiles were constructed during the year. The topsoil and
subsoil stockpiles adjacent to Pond G were seeded with perennial
grasses during 1990.
8. Overburden Stockpiles
No new overburden stockpiles were created during the year.
Approximately 440,100 compacted cubic yards of overburden were
hauled from the Existing Overburden Stockpile and backfiAed into the
720 Pit, but, this activity resulted in no reduction in the aerial extent of
3
