i
6.2.4 Basin 7
1 Basin 7 is a small 15 acre drainage that flows into the southeast
corner of the pit. The flow collects in a small catchment basin on the
rim of the pit. The pond volume is small and has little effect on the
overall flood. Currently the water flows through the spillway and has
' eroded a channel 2 to 3 feet deep. The peak flow is 18 cfs. Channel D
will be constructed in the same location as the existing eroded area.
Minor pond and spillway improvements will be made to direct the runoff
' into Channel D.
6.2.5 Subbasins A,B, and C
With the flow from Basin 6 diverted away from the northeast corner of
Ithe pit, the remaining drainage basin and channel requirements are
minimal . Subbasins A,B, and C as shown on Figure 6.3 represent the
' remaining areas that flow into the northeast corner of the pit. Channels
A,B, and C will be constructed in the same locations where significant
erosion has occurred in the past. The northeast area of the pit will be
regraded to flow towards the channels. Channel A and B combine to flow
into Channel C. Channel C has a separate drainage area in addition to
conveying the peak flows of Channels A,B and D. The peak flows for
Channels A,B and C are 3 cfs, 2 cfs and 38 cfs, respectively.
' 6.2.6 Basins 4,5 and 9
' These basins currently flow into several catchment basins. This area
has previously been released by MLRD and is not considered in this report.
-18-
