' 6.2.3 Basin 6
Basin 6 lies northeast of the pit and contains approximately 375
acres. Currently the basin flows through several small catchment basins
' before eventually reaching the northeast corner of the pit. No well
defined flow path exists and this has probably caused the numerous eroded
gullies in the northeast corner of the pit. The HEC-1 run for a 100-yr. ,
' 1-hr. storm showed a peak flow of 92 cfs and a runoff volume of 11 acre
feet. Umetco proposes to construct Ditch B on the uphill side of the road
' just above the pit.
Ditch B will divert the flow into two detention ponds, Ponds A and B,
that were previously required for flows from Basins 2 and 3. These ponds
are located northeast of the pit. The ditch cross-section and riprap
requirements are grade dependent and vary as shown on the plans. The
' combined storage capacity of the two small ponds is currently 5 acre feet.
In order to achieve 11 acre feet of capacity, the dikes and spillways on
Ponds A and B will have to be raised 3.4 feet and 2 feet respectively.
1 The pond dikes will still be less than 10 feet high and therefore will not
be subject to the State Engineer's criteria or jurisdiction.
' -17-
