1
6.2.7 Miscellaneous Improvements
' The drain ditches along a couple of the existing roads will be
' regraded to provide proper drainage into the catchment basins. In
addition, areas that are disturbed during construction or that lack
' vegetation will be drill -seeded using the seed mixture previously
submitted to MLRD. Certain areas may require additional topsoil or the
addition of fertilizer to aid the establishment of vegetation. The area
' that has not been released by MLRD will be fenced to keep cattle out and
allow time for vegetation to grow.
6.3 Erosion Control Improvements - Johnson Pit
The drainage basin above the permitted area is approximately 5.1 acres
as opposed to the total 35 acres shown in the Chen report. Currently
' there is approximately 1 acre feet of storage provided by 2 catchment
basins. Apparently, the dike of one basin breached a couple of years ago
after cattle trampled a depression along the top of the dike. This area
has subsequently been repaired. The size of the basin will be increased
to 2 acre feet which would provide more than total containment of the
' 100-year, 1 -hr storms. The upper dike will be raised by 1 foot and the
lower dike by 3 .5 feet. Portions of the permitted area are lacking
' topsoil and vegetation . These portions will be topsoiled and
drill -seeded. The perimeter of the permitted area will also be fenced.
1
-19-
