Mined Land Reclamation
July 3, 1978
Page two
and Dave Boyle, County Extension Agent. The results we feel are
very successful as well as similar to the original test plant areas.
This fall, within the next two months, will find us placing more
topsoil to the level areas and establishing seed shortly thereafter.
Our plan still remains to progress to a sequential restoration on the
property in accordance with the plan depicted on the topographical
map submitted with this annual report. We will further expand the
restoration plan by seeding the screening berms once warmer weather
subsides and lends itself to a more favorable growing season. These
berms need some additional shaping which will be accomplished prior
to topsoil placement and seeding.
Final Benches
The final benches and the restoration thereof, are, of course, .some
years away yet.
Fugitive Dust
We are presently using sufficient water, along with proper spray
equipment in efforts to comply with dust emission standards.
Roads
All back slopes have been seeded and the establishment appears to be
successful. The road top surfaces have been oiled to prevent dust.
East Berm
This berm continues to show evidences of natural vegetation which
has established itself. This berm not only serves aesthetic functions,
but prevents potential surface water from draining in an uncontrolled
manner.
We shall in the future, as we have in the past, continue to update
our performance concerning land stabilization and reclamation.
We feel the approved reclamation plan is progressing satisfactorily
and according to the timetable approved in the original application.
