4.3.2 Production Wells
No chloride contamination has been detected in cavity 1A or cavity 3A. Slight chloride
influx has been detected in cavity 4A. This influx is easily controlled with the dilution
created during plant operation. Mud/cement levels of production wells were to surface
throughout the year as required.
4.3.3 Monitoring Wells
•
No new monitoring wells were drilled or completed in 2000. Monitoring wells 90-2, EX-
2, 4A-1V, 93-2M, and DS-2 are all equipped with pressure transducers with continuous
water levels (WL) readouts, which are available in the control room. Production well
90-5 was utilized for WL monitoring until July. In addition there are fourteen wells
equipped with pressure transducers, which record WL continuously and the readouts
are reported monthly. Pressure transducers and access wires were replaced in
numerous wells as needed during 2000. Water quality data is collected from sixteen wells.
Fifteen are dedicated to monitoring and one is also used as raw water well. Additional
water quality cleanup work is planned on IRI-4 and 90~ in 2001.
4.3.4 Geotechnical Program
•
A long term, time-domain-reflectometry monitoring program associated with well 4A-5M
showed no indication of subsidence in 2000. There has been no indication of subsidence
from this well since installation. No major drilling program is planned which will significantly
advance the geotechnical program in 2001.
19
