• 89-3 and recompleting EX-2. Early in 1990 NaTec Minerals, Inc. <br />submitted construction plans for 125,000 TPY facilities to the BLM <br />and initiated site development. In May of 1990 construction of <br />plant facilities commenced. Plant construction is in progress <br />with completion scheduled for January of 1991. Monitoring wells, <br />production wells NaTec 88-1 and 90-5, and water well 90-1 were <br />completed in 1990. Associated right-of- ways for phone, natural <br />gas, electric power, and county access road were constructed. <br />A revised mine plan with amendment for additional acreage for <br />production well field expansion will be submitted in February, <br />1991. <br />• 2.0 ACTIVITIES DURING 1990 <br />2.1 Proiect Status <br />2.1.1 General Description <br />NaTec Minerals, Inc. is constructing a commercial grade sodium <br />bicarbonate (bicarb) production facility on four federal sodium <br />lease tracts within the Piceance Basin in northwestern Colorado. <br />Figure 2-1 illustrates location of project, leases, wells, county <br />access road and associated utility lines. Sodium bicarbonate will <br />be produced by solution mining underground nahcolite deposits and <br />then recovering the sodium bicarbonate in a surface refining <br />facility. The sodium bicarbonate is to be primarily used for flue <br />gas treatment to remove oxides of sulfur and nitrogen. <br />• <br />2 <br />
