• exposed surface area increases each day as leaching increases the
cavity size. The leach rate can be increased by increasing the
cavity temperature, lowering the crystallization temperature and,
to a lesser extent, increasing the flow rate.
During the cavity restricted operating period, the greatest flow
rate, higher injection temperature and coolest crystallization
temperature practical will be used.
Following the cavity restricted operating period, mining will
continue with the distributor remaining at the original position
200' back from SS-1. When 6,000 tons have been mined, the
distributor will be pulled back 40' to position #2. While at #2,
• 2,600 tons will be mined before moving an additional 80' to
position #3 where another 2,600 tons is mined. This will continue
until the distributor reaches the final position 995' back from
88-1 well. The cavity will have produced 25,000 tons at this
point. This is approximately 60$ of the calculated yield of
41,000 tons.
The cavity will be surveyed at this time. The remaining cavity
will then be mined. This may involve circulation without further
movement of the injection string, adjustment of the injection
string and adjustment of the annulus gas/liquid interface level.
Based on present market predictions, the 60$ maturity level will
be achieved toward the end of 1991. The remaining 40$ will be
• mined in 1992.
55
