would begin with injection into well 90-5 with low flow rates (50
GPM range) to avoid washing insolubles into a possible tight spot
at the connection of the horizontal and vertical holes in the
Boies Bed. The solution temperature in this early development
phase will be in the 120°F range. The first returns from the
well, containing drilling mud and untreated water, will be
directed to the evaporation pond.
Flow rates will be increased to 200 GPM in 50 GPM increments. The
incremental changes will be made every four hours, if, the
pressure drop measured across the well pair is stabilized.
Injection temperature will be increased to 160°F in two 20°F steps
one hour apart.
~v.~
Circulation will continue at 200 GPM until 10 tons of bicarb has
been leached. At this time the flow rate will be increased to 600
GPM in 100 GPM increments each four hours.
Up to this point the circuit will be flowing through the plant
without cooling or crystallization. When the 600 GPM/160°F
circulation system reaches 80t saturation, cooling
crystallization will be initiated. This event is expected to
occur on the 6th day.
The first 30 days or so will be cavity restricted operation where
the return solution is not saturated. The daily production is
~ determined by the leach rate and exposed surface area. The
54
55
