The 50-60 mil
VLDPE liner met or exceeded all liner specifications.
The use of the 50-60 mil VLDPE liner was approved by the Division on October 27, 1993 through
Technical Revision TR-014 to Permit No. M-88-112 with the following stipulations:
• Stipulation No. 1 -The samples for destructive testing from those seams where 50-60 mil
and 40 mil geomembrane materials aze welded should be cut after the seams have been
subjected to at least three expansion contraction periods (three consecutive 24 hour periods).
• Stipulation No. 2 -Retest the wedge welds of SO-60 mil and 40 mil liner using the permit
specified pressure test of the channel after the tested seam has experienced at least three
cycles of expansion and contraction (three consecutive 24 hour periods).
• Stipulation No. 3 -Notify the Division if the 50-60 mil to 40 mil seams f8i1 at a higher rate
than approved in the permit before placing drainage blanket material on the seam.
All stipulations were met during wnstruction of the facility and indicated that none of the 40 mil
to 50-60 mil seams failed the routine QA,'QC testing or the additional TR-14 testing as described
in detail in Section 6.3.
5.6 Reporting
To document the procedures that were adopted during construction and reflect a higher degree of
interface with the Division during construction, Section 7 of the Earthwork Specification was
revised.
