Section 5
This section has an easterly aspect and is located
directly above sections 3&4.
Section 5 was extremely rocky so we hualed in a mixture
of compost and overburden for planting.
After planting the seed mix was broadcast at 20#~acre or
2~ for this .1 acre section.
This section was done entirely in early September. Seed-
lings planted in this section were:
Pinion Pine
Fourwing Saltbush
Totals of each species:
Mondale Pine
Ponderosa Pine
Pinion Pine
Blue Spivice
Gambel Oak
Mountain Mahogany
' Oakbush Sumac
Aspen
Oregon Grape
Fringed Sage
Indian ricegx•ass
Fourwing Saltbush
Woods Rose
Rubber Rabbitbrush
31
1'
,.total 2~
Pinus eldericus 160;;
Pinus ponderosa 47
46
Pinus edulis 40
Picea pungens glacica ~
Quercus gambelii 96
Cerecocarpus mbntanus 46
Rhus tribobata 64
Populous tremuloides 41
Mahonia repens 74
Artemisa frigida 32
Oryzopis hymencides 46
Atriplex canecens 37
Rosa woodsii ~
Chrysothanmus naus tot -
al".810
Conclusion of the 1980 reclaimation efforts.
By useing the planting methods described the seedlings
stand a good chance of survival. I::exspect;those of section
3 will have the best results due to the application of the
overburden.
In addition the excessive mulch on all teedlings should
provide less evapotranspiration rates while at the same time
provide proi.ec~ion from wind and the forthcoming winter.
4
