Liner material shall be all new material with no visible surface defects.
' B . Geomembrane liner for the Cash Mine Site Development Tailings Pond Expansion
shall be a high density polyethylene (HDPE
60-mil)
,
.
C . Geosynthetic Clay Liner for the Cash Mine site development tailings
' pond shall be a Bento-Fix GCL or approved equal.
D . Liner materials shall be seamed, as necessary, using techniques, products and
equipment recommended by the liner manufacturer.
PART 3 EXECUTION
' 3.1 FOUNDATION PREPARATION
' A. The subgrade shall be compacted so that a smooth surface is achieved with no
rutting, debris, organic material, ponded orfrozen material orsharp projecting rocks
larger than approximately % inch present within two inches of the surfaces over
which liner is to be installed.
B. Place geomembranes, as required, on prepared subgrade or excavated regraded
surfaces or tailings surfaces as shown on the Drawings.
' C. The installation contractor shall certify in writing that the surface on which the
geomembrane is to be installed is acceptable. No installation of the liner shall
' commence until this certification is furnished to and accepted by the Owner's
Representative.
' 3.2
1
1

GEOMEMBRANE INSTALLATION
A. Individual panels of GCL liner material shall be laid out and the minimum dimension
of the longitudinal overlap should be 6 inches. End-of-roll overlapped seams should
be similarly constructed, but the minimum overlap should measure 24 inches.
Seams at the ends of the panels should be constructed such that they are shingled
in the direction of the grade to pervent the potential for runoff flow to enter the
overlap zone. Individual panels of 60 mil HDPE shall be laid out and overlapped by
a minimum of 4 inches. Extreme care shall be taken by the installer in the
preparation of the areas to be seamed. Such areas shall be cleaned and prepared
' J'\54fi1\SPECSFNL.WPD
Geosynthetic Liners
02770-2
