' September 28, 1998
A. Contractor shall perform final grading as directed by the Owner. Surfaces shall be
graded at a relatively uniform slope toward the natural drainageways so that no
' areas of ponded water or localized depressions exist.
B. For crushed gravel used for erosion control on slopes steeper than 3:1, place the
materials on the slope in a uniform thickness of 1 to 2'/~ inches and work the gravel
' into the surface with a dozer working up/down on the slopes.
C. Alternatively, place erosion control mats or mulch with binder (e.g., tackifier) on all
' regraded slopes steeper than 3:1.
' 3.10 PLACEMENT OF GEOMEMBRANE AND GEOGRID
A. If geotextile is to be used for erosion control in drainage ditches, spillways and
diversion/sediment control berms, sections shall be overlapped by at least 18 inches
' with the overlap in the downstream direction and no overlaps parallel to the side
slopes. Optionally, sections of geotextile may be sewn together in accordance with
the manufacturer's recommendations fora "J" stitch. No horizontal seams or
' overlaps (parallel to the side slope) shall be used in the geotextile placed on side
slopes and all vertical seams shall) be sewn together using an appropriate "J" stitch,
or overlapped a minimum of 18-inches.
' B. All geotextile shall be adequately anchored in trenches with compacted backfill as
shown on the Drawings.
' C. Place geotextile for silt fences with seams sewn at the supports and with adequately
anchored bases in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
D. Geotextile sections for subgrade support, if used, shall be sewn together based
upon the manufacturer's recommendations and using a "J"stitch. Geogrid sections
shall be overlapped sufficiently. or wired together in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommendations.
END OF SECTION
t

' Earthyvork
' J:\6a61\SPECSFNL.WPD O22OO-14
