• j. Both wells associated with Cavity #1 passed the mechanical integrity
tests.
k. Applications to drill the wells associated with Cavity #2 were
extented until mid 1993, no drill pad preparation or drilling occurred.
I. Curtains were installed at the entrance to storage dome to control
dust.
m. The A-Groove water well produced 17,445,700 gallons in 1992.
o. The location for discharge flow from the crystalizers was changed and
greatly reduced heat exchanger plugging problems.
3.2.3 Prooosed 1993 Activities and Schedule
• Marketing in 1993 will focus on continued penetration of the traditional bicarb
market as well as continued development of the Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD)
applications. The Clean Air Act compliance date of 1995 means slow FGD growth
in 1993. FGD is expected to become a major market by 1995. WRNM anticipates
production of approximately 62,500 tons in 1993. The plant will be on a
continuous production schedule with scheduled down time only for plant
maintenace, cavity surveys, etc.
No significant changes in monitoring, mining method, or crystallization are
anticipated in 1993. WRNM will propose mining 1500' cavities (#2 and #31 and
drilling asonar/subsidence monitoring well over cavity #2. Regulatory approval
will be required. Process changes in dewatering and drying will result from
• planned equipment changes. Also, plans for production of food grade bicarb will
11
