<br />12.4.6.1 The licensee's personnel and facility monitoring <br />program shall be as referenced in I.C 10.1 <br />No reduction in monitoring frequency shall be <br />made without Department approval. <br />12.4.6.2 Personnel monitoring control badges shall be kept <br />in a natural background radiation location. <br />12.4.6.3 Bioassay <br />12.4.6.3.1 The licensee shall comply with the program as in <br />the Procedures Manual, required by LC 12.1.7 and <br />USI~RC Regulatory Guide 8.22 (Bioassay at Uranium <br />t9ills), and the following regarding bioassay: <br />Urinalysis for uranium shall be performed every <br />trx> weeks for employees assigned to the ore <br />crushing operations, and maintenance tasks in <br />which radioactive ore dust may be produced. <br />Specimens shall be collected as close as is <br />reasonably possible to the period beginning <br />48 hours and ending 96 hours after the last <br />exposure. The measurement sensitivity shall be <br />5 ugjl or less. A special urinalysis shall also <br />be performed if there is any reason to suspect an <br />inhalation exposure to ore dust exceeding <br />520 x 10-10 uCi hr/ml in a period of one <br />calendar quarter. The licensee shall make a <br />formal documented evaluation if bioassay <br />measurements exceed any of the following criteria: <br />(a) The urinary uranium concentration exceeds <br />30 ug/1 for any two consecutive sampling <br />periods. <br />(b) The urinary uranium concentration for any <br />measurement exceeds 80 ug/1. <br />(c) Action levels based on bioassay measurements <br />shall be in accordance with Tables 1 and 2 <br />of USNRC Regulatory Guide 8.22. In <br />addition, all bioassay results shall be <br />evaluated arm acted upon by the Fadiation <br />Safety Officer and Corporate Medical Advisor. <br />VII -16- <br />
