r~
_ 5,g $~ QF SEASON CONFIGURATION
It is anticipated that construction of the mine bench
stabilization will not be completed prior to the winter of 1984.
Therefore, provisions for delay in construction will be required.
The provisions required at end of construction and during
- significant weather delays (greater than one week) include:
' o Compaction of the final lift of material, prior to winter
shutdown, to a minimum of 958 Proctor density in order to
limit moisture infiltration;
o Grade fill surfaces such that water will run off and not be
- allowed to pond;
1 o Provide temporary diversion along mine bench and other areas
J to minimize surface erosion;
o Place 12 inches of loose material over compacted fill
surfaces to reduce "weathering" of the compacted surface.
' The provisions required when construction commences following
significant delays include:
o Removal of loose surface materials;
o Scarifying of the surface to a minimum depth of 12 inches;
o Recompaction of the surface to 908 Standard Proctor density
' prior to resuming construction.
The utilization of these methods will reduce the impact due tc
_ the weather conditions expected during significant delays or
during winter periods.
J

w
I 26
