- Wolf Creek Coal and Underburden. One well each moni tore these two unite
YWC 31 and
YWCU31
Both wells exist in the Sa
e Creek basin
Well YWC31 ,
exhibits ver
little
.
q
. y
seasonal variation. Its eater levels have been increasing since 1995. Well YWCU31 is
normally dry.
Ground Water Quality. Table 9 shown the ground rater parameter list used for all well
rater samples. Appendix C provides all ground water quality data collected during this
reporting period, along with sampling remarks. After the remarks is a statistic report
representing baseline (i.a., premining) data for each wall (rhere applicable). On this
statistics report, "censored data" refers to analytical wluea that ware below the
detection limit xhich were censored from the min/mar/mean calculations. The time frame
for baseline conditions is listed under ''conditions specified" at the bottom of each page.
The baseline statistics report is folloved by a plot of TDS versus time for the entire
period of record. The regression line on this plot ie generated by a method known as
LOWESS (Locally Weighted Scatterplot Smoothing). A smoothness factor oP 1 (on a scale of
0 to 1) roe used, whi(h gives maximum smoothing. Finally, thi9 plot is folloved by a
table listing historic TOS values and percent aulliequivalenta for major ions,
- Alluvium. One well, YAALld, moni COra va ter quality in the Armand Draw alluvium. TDS
veluaa for thin well display an increasing trend.
Two volla, YGAL15 and 16, monitor water quality in the Graeay Creek alluvium. Wall 15 is
located on Graeay Creek belor the confluence of the NP66311 tributary. It displays an
increasing TDS trend. Well 16 is located immediately belox NPDESII on a Graeay Creek
tributary. It displays a decreasing TDS trend.
Four relle; Y9AL1, 3, S, and 12; monitor rater quality in the Saga Creek alluvium. No
mining has occurred yet in this Daain.
- Wedge Overburden. Well YOV28 monitors overburden rater quality in the Armand Draw
basin. It displays an inczeasing TOS trend. Wells YOY29 and 30 exist in the Saqe Creak
basin. Well 29 historically nevez had enough rater for aempling. However, rater Lewla
in this rell haw boon increasing, and rater samples rare collected in 1998 and 1999.
Woll 30 displays a decreasing TDS frond.
•
5
