measurements by SCC began in August 1994. These sells were abandoned with bentanite
pellets on July 16, prior to the construction of pond 012. •
- Lennox Coal. Txo sell s, YLS and 6, monitor the Lennoz coal seam in the Saga Creek
basin. Both wells are flowing antl are fitted with pressure gages. pressure measurements
by SCC began in August 1994. These wells were abandoned with bantonite pellets on July
16, prior to the construction of Pond 012.
- Wadqe Overburden. Seven wells; YOV1, 9, 15, 19, 28, 29 and 30; monitor the Wadga
overburden. Wall YOV28 exists in the Armand Draw basin, all others exist in the gaga
Creek basin. Most walla exhibit typical seasonal fluctuations, and rater levels this year
within their historic ranges, although soma lag time for the spring rechazge is observed.
Well YOV1 ras abandoned with bentoni to pellets on July 16, prior to the cone traction of
Pond 012. Well YOV2B (downgradient of the current mine pit) has experienced a decrease in
water levels since August 1996. Well YOV30 to+a also experienced a decline in rater
levels, although it is in a premining area (Sage Creek basin).
- Wedge Coal. Seven rolls; YW2, 7, 14, 18, 28, 29, and 30; monitor the coal seam. Well
YW28 exists in the AMand Draw basin, all others exist in the Sage Creek basin. Due to
the for aquifer tcanemissivi ties, seasonal rater level fluctuations are much lees
pronounced than the alluvium and overburden, and are often masked by rater sampling
effects. Moat walla exhibited rater levels this yeaz within their hie torie ranges. Wall
Yci2 ras abandoned with bantonite pellets on July 16, prior to the construction of pond
012. Well YW28 (dorngradient of the currant mine pit) has experianced decreasing rater
levels since October 1996. In the Sage Creek basin, rater levala at well YW29 aze
increasing, chile rater levala at cell YK30 are decreasing.
- Wedge Underbuzden. Five rolls; YWU16, 17, 28, 29, and 30; monitor the wedge
underburden. Well YWU28 exists in the Armand Draw basin, all others exist in the Sage
Creak basin. Most of these cells do not exhibit any significant seasonal variation,
although some vaziation from yaaz-to-year i9 evident. Most wells exhlbited rater Lavela
this yeaz within their historic ranges. well YWU28 (downgradient of the current mina pit)
han ezperienced decreasing rater lave la from June 1996 to September 1997, but has recently
ezperienced a rise in water levels. In the Saqe Creek basin, cells YWU29 and 30 have also
experienced increasing rater levels.
•
4
