Pursuant to Technical Revision 55, Modification of Groundwater
Monitoring Plan, the following information is provided to satisfy requests
• for additional information as outlined in Part C, Monitoring Well
Installation of the Technical Revision.
HG-1
(West Well)
1. Elevation at the top of the casing:
Collar Elevation 7,450.3
Ground Elevation 1,447.3
Northing 381,347.6
Fasting 1,499,406.9
2. Total depth of each well:
HG-1 was drilled and completed to a depth of 300 feet, which is 7.5
feet below the base of Seam 5.
3. Locations and thickness of water bearing zones within the wells:
HG-1 encountered the first water zone at a depth of 43 feet. The flow
was on the order of 2 to 3 9pm from a silty shale. This flow is
believed to be the result of secondary porosity caused by fracturing.
An additional 1 to 2 gpm was encountered in a fine grained sandstone
within the interval between 163.5 feet and 180 feet. As expected,
• water was encountered in the coal seams; however, since the flows were
low and the drilling operation required water injection after
encountering water at 43 feet, it was difficult to determine flow for
each seam or minor flows between seams.
The total composite flow for the entire well is presented below.
4. Stratigraphy associated with the wells, including lithologies and
thickness of units:
To avoid any confusion or questions as to reaching five feet below the
target of Seam 5 and to provide a graphic representation of
lithologies and thickness, a geophysical well logger was retained to
log each hole. A copy of each log is enclosed for your convenience in
Exhibit 5.
5. Well completion logs:
HG-1 was completed as shown in Figure 2.05.6-1 of the Permit. The
only exception is that the well was completed to a depth of 300 feet
versus 265 feet shown in Figure 2.05.06-1.

- 3-
