2. Hvdroloaic Monitoring
A. Surface Water - The current surface water monitoring program
includes four sites. Two of the sites are located at the
reclaimed minesite along Hayden-Gulch and two of the sites are
located in the vicinity of the loadout along Dry Creek.
The monitoring frequency is semi-annual and coincides with
periods of high runoff volumes from precipitation events. We are
uncertain as to the rationale behind sampling following a
precipitation event and request at this time to drop the
requirement of sampling only after a precipitation event. The
current procedure is not representative of average conditions at
the site. In fact, the current procedure is likely to show only
worse case due to the temporary effects of excessive stream
loading during precipitation events.
Analysis for each of the four surface water monitoring locations
during 1987 are presented in Exhibits 1 and 2.
B. Groundwater - As approved in Technical Revision 55, Modification
of Groundwater Monitoring Plan, two new groundwater monitoring
wells were installed at the minesite/shop location during 1987.
In addition, the downdip alluvial well at the loadout was also
replaced during 1987.
Analysis for groundwater samples taken during 1987 are presented
• in Exhibits 3 and 4.
•
-2-
