<br />3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS <br />' 3.1 General <br />' The Contractor shall store materials, confine his equipment, and maintain conswction operations <br />within the limits of applicable laws, ordinances, permits, or as outlined by the Engineer. Care <br />shall be exercised to avoid blocking roads or in any other way interfering with the Owner's <br />' operations, or presenting a hazard to Owner's personnel and equipment, or to the public. <br />The Contractor shall at all times keep the work site neat, tidy, and free of waste materials or <br />rubbish resulting from his work. Fuei, lubricating oils, and chemicals shall be stored and <br />dispensed in such a manner as to prevent or contain spills and prevent said liquids from reaching <br />local streams or groundwater. <br />' 3.2 Diversion and Care of Water <br />The site is in a dry climate area and anticipated to be dry at the time of conswction; however, <br />' thunderstorms and runoff may occur during the conswction period. Depending upon the <br />duration and severity of the thunderstorm, flash floods are possible. It shall be the Contractor's <br />responsibility to protect his equipment and materials, as well as completed ox portions of the <br />work in progress from damage in the event of local thunderstorms or fltish floods. The <br />Contractor shall provide dewatering, as needed, at his own expense to maintain drained work <br />areas. <br />' The Contractor shall sequence his construction activities to minimize flash flood damage to the <br />earthworks covered under these Specifications. In the event neglect or poor conswction planning <br />results in flood damage to the facilities constructed or being conswcted, the f>cilities shall be <br />repaired or replaced to the satisfaction of the Engineer, at the Contractor's expense. Plans for <br />remedial work shall be submitted by the Contractor for review and approval by the Engineer <br />prior to commencement of such work. <br />3.3 Dust Abatement <br />' During the performance of the work defined by these Specifications or any operations <br />appurtenant thereto, whether on a right-0f-way provided by the Owner or elsewhere, the <br />Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, and means required to perform proper <br />and efficient measures to prevent fugitive dust excursion.
