,KININO• • • O~^ICE ]O] 3{7.0118
EXPLORATION FRED M. JOHNSON, C.P.G. RESIDENCE 2{~•]]eo
IN OIN EERINO GEOLOGIST
P.O. BOX 2702
D URANG O, COLORADO 87902
June 21, 1990
TO: Caryl Helmin, National King Coal, Inc.
SUBJECT: Quarterly Inspection, Huntington Ditch, Second Quarter ~
1990.
1) The Huntington Ditch, King Coal Mine, La Plata County,
Colorado was inspected monthly during the Seccnd Quarter cf
1990.
2) The ditch was found to be in good condition but is in need
of clearing and maintenance.
3) No inspection was done during the First Quarter of 1990
because of snow cover and limited access to the surface.
Inspections were made of the Huntington Ditch on April 4,
May 8 and June 20, 1990 for evidence of leakage and damage due
to the effects of underground mining. Particular care was taken
during these inspections because of recent subsidence effects
above 3 West - the ditch above 1 North was inspected in detail.
No evidence of leakage or damage was found. The ditch is, how-
ever, in need of clearing of weed and native plant growth and
sediment.
The purpose of these inspections was to insure protection
of the Huntington Ditch, the King Coal Mine and to meet require-
ments established by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
for quarterly inspection of the Huntington Ditch.
ed M. Joh ~n C.P.G.
