M.NING"~ • •
E%PLORATION FRED M. JOHNSON, C.P.G.
EN 6IN EERING GEOLOGIST
P.O. BO% 2102
D URANG O. COLORADO 81302
August 24, 1990
TO: Caryl Helmin, National King Coal, Inc.
OFFICE ]O! 147-0110
RESIDENCE 347.3600
SUBJECT: Quarterly Inspection, Huntington Ditch, Third Quarter
1990.
1) The Huntington Ditch, King Coal Mine, La Plata County,
Colorado was inspected twice during the Third Quarter of
1990.
2) The ditch was found to be in good condition but is in need
of clearing and maintenance - particularly in SW; SE; NE;, Sec.
31, T35N, R11W.
Inspections were made of the Huntington Ditch twice in
the Third Quarter for evidence of leakage and damage due to
the effects of underground mining. Particular care was taken
during these inspections because of recent subsidence effects
above 3 West - the ditch above 1 North was inspected in detail.
No evidence of leakage or damage was found. The ditch is, how-
ever, in need of clearing of weed and native plant growth and
sedimant, as noted above. The condition will be resolved in
the realignment and lining of. this portion of the ditch.
The purpose of these inspections was to insure protection
of the Huntington Ditch, the King Coal Mine and to meet
requirements established by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Division for quarterly inspection of the Huntington Ditch.
ed M. Jo C.P.G.
