[1 <br />' 3.0 INSPECTION OF WORK <br />' 3.1 General <br />' Unless otherwise specified, full-time inspection of all construction activities defined by the <br />Specification will be provided by the Owner. Owner's inspection of all work shall be performed <br />under the supervision and control of the Quality Assurance Engineer or his designated <br />representative while such work is in progress. Said inspections are for the convenience, <br />satisfaction, and benefit of the Owner in determining that the work is performed in strict <br />accordance with the Specifications. It shall be the Contractor's sole responsibility to provide all <br />required materials (both natural and manufactured) and to perform all work in conformance with <br />the Specifications. The Quality Assurance Engineer will inspect, test, and report all findings to <br />the Conswction Manager. The Construction Manager shall be responsible for enforcing the <br />Specifications or initiating variances or designs changes through the Design Engincer. Owner's <br />inspections shall not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for the acceptability of the finished <br />work or portions thereof. <br />' 3.2 Access <br />' The Quality Assurance Engineer and his representatives shall at all times have access to the <br />work whenever it is in preparation or progress provided that they report thew presence to the <br />Construction Manager who is responsible for all activities onsite. The Contractor shall fully <br />1 cooperate with the Quality Assurance Engineer, shall provide proper facilities for access, and <br />shall furnish labor and equipment reasonably needed for safe and convenient inspection, <br />' including the excavation of test pits. The Contractor shall give the Quality Assurance Engineer <br />ample notice of readiness of the work for inspection, and the Quality Assurance Engineer <br />shall perform said inspection in such a manner as not to unnecessarily delay the work. <br />3.3 Examination <br />' If any work should be covered up without prior approval or consent of the Quality Assurance <br />Engineer, it must, if required by the Engincer, be uncovered for examination. <br />' 3.4 Samples and Tests <br />It is the intent of these Specifications that materials shall be inspected and tested by the Quality <br />Assurance Engineer before final acceptance of the work. Any item of the work Which is found <br />not to meet or exceed the Specifications or which is improperly located or constructed shall be <br />removed and replaced. The Quality Assurance Engineer's inspections and tests shall not relieve <br />' -a- <br /> <br />
