RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR
THAT YEAR.
No land was reclaimed during the last year. However,
some backfilling continued. Of course, the removal of the
sand dike can be considered to be a kind of reclamation. It
is opening to the south what was formerly a hole in the
ground. This turns land that had very limited utility into
a greater usefulness.
RULE 2.41(3): THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES IN THE
VARIOUS STAGES OF RECLAMATION (BACKFILLED, GRADED, TOPSOIL
REPLACED, REVEGETATED).
The amount of land under reclamation continues at about
6.5 acres, not including the about S acres of mining that
could be considered a form of reclamation through grading.
The problem noted last year with runoff from the shopping
center to the north of the site seems to have been resolved.
Castle Concrete encouraged the owners of the shopping center
to change the roof drainage to the north side of the
shopping center and away from the pit slopes. A new curb
was also placed along the south boundary of the shopping
center. These welcome actions by the shopping center owners
appears to have Significantly reduced the flow over the
slope above the ditch. This greatly reduces the possibility
of slope erosion.
RULE 2.41(4): THE SPECIES OF VEGETATION PLANTED, THE
LOCATIONS AND APPROXIMATE DATES OF PLANTING.
No planting was done in the last year.
RULE 2.41(5): THE TYPE AND APPROXIMATE QUANTITY OF
FERTILIZERS, ORGANIC MATERIAL, OR SOIL CONDITIONERS USED AND
LOCATION OF USE.
used.
Because no planting was done, no soil amendments were
Page 2 of 3 1989-1990 SAND PIT AMl~1L REPORT
