CASTLE CONCRETE COMPANY'S
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
1989-1990 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: SAND PIT
PERMIT NUMBER: M-77-213
DATE OF INSPECTION FOR DATA IN REPORT: MAY 1990.
SUMMARY:
During the last year conditions at this
operation changed very little from the
previous year. The main change in the
operation was the continued removal of the
sand dike separating this operation from the
Daniels Sand Pit #2 to the south. Other than
that, the continued depressed aggregate market
has produced a situation where the reclamation
of the operation is being further delayed.
However, because the dike is nearly removed,
reclamation activity may increase in the next
year.
RULE 2.41(1): LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING
THAT YEAR.
The amount of land affected in the last year changed
very little from last year. Extraction activities occurred
only in the area of the former sand dike on the south side
of the operation and to a very small extent on the west side
of the operation. This activity was performed by Daniels
Sand Company (a subsidiary of Transit Mix Concrete) under an
agreement with Castle Concrete Company. The annual report
map appears to show mining activity extending outside the
permit boundary. Because this permit and the Daniels Sand
Pit #2 permit abut each other in this area the activity that
appears to be outside the permit houndary is actually in the
permit area of the other operation.
Nearly all the material hauled from the mining area was
hauled southward to the Daniels Sand permit area. The Pit
Road was used very little during the last year.
The area of extraction activity occupied about 5 acres,
all total.
Page 1 of 3 1969-1990 SAPID PIT ANNLWL REPORT
