/' •
Reclamation Ptan (Exhibit E)
s~,
j.
L~`
J
4

~ ~~ ' I "
1,. .
4
~,, ..
•
1. You propose to have water storage reservoirs as a central feature
of the site after reclamation is complete, but you did not provide ~ ~ ~~
any information concerning the source of water to be stored.
Please provide additional information regarding both physical and
legal availability of water to meet not only the water requirements
during mining, but to demonstrate that the final land use
(reservoir) subsequent to reclamation can be achieved.
2. Please provide additional information concerning the clay liner to
be constructed to seal the ponds. Will the materials for this ~p,~.e,f~ll~
liner be generated on-site or imported? What is the expected in-
situ hydraulic conductivity of this liner?
3. The application contains an SCS report which includes reclamation
recomendations and a proposed seeding mix. There is, however, no
indication that these SCS recommendations will be followed. Please
commit to following the SCS recommendations in their entirety, or
indicate how your reclamation/revegetation plan will deviate from
what the SCS has proposed.
Water Information (Exhibit G
1. The application states that the mining area is within the 100-year
flood plain. Please provide mapping delineating the 100-year flood Ulf i
plain limits. What is the discharge associated with this event? ~ k
What flow velocities are anticipated in the mine area during such a
flood? 0 V
2. You propose to build up and armor an existing dike on the south
edge of Cell A, leaving a depressed area about 100 feet in length
to allow controlled inflow of flood waters into the pit. At what Dk
recurrence interval can discharge of stormwater into the pit be
expected? What is the capacity of this weir section? ~1~U. v5 . r~~u(~IN h r~
3. You propose to leave a similar depressed area in the dike to
control flow from Cell A to Cell B. What is the length of this
depression? What is its capacity? What are the design
characteristics and capacity of the proposed culvert between the c~a~~•,' ~w~l~r
cells?
4. Please provide additional information concerning your ability to
provide replacement water for well owners if local wells are
rendered unusable as a result of your dewatering operations.
(Please note the enclosed letter from the Central Colorado Water
Conservancy District expressing concerns that its wells will be
materially damaged; note also that CCWCD has requested a Formal ~..,~(
Public Hearing in connection with this matter.)
