Boyd, Reclamation Specialist ~
RE: File No. M-89-120, Platte Valley Pit, Adequacy Items
The following items must be addressed by the applicant in order to satisfy the
applicable requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-101 et seq. and the Mineral Rules and
Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board-
Mining Plan (Exhibit D)
1. The application refers to an existing concrete batch plant operated
by C & M Companies which is adjacent to this proposed site. Is
this batch plant part of an existing permitted operation? If so,
the proposed site should be incorporated into the existing
operation via an Amendrtwnt rather than permitting it separately.
If not, it may be necessary to include the batch plant under this
permit. Please either provide pertinent design data and related
information regarding this facility and adjust the proposed permit
boundary to include it, or provide justification for not including
the plant site as part of the permit area. (We note that your
Reclamation Plan already contemplates reclamation of this area upon
completion of mining.)
'l.. On page D-1, the application provides the depths of overburden and
the ore body, but makes no mention of topsoil. How much topsoil is
available on site? Will it all be salvaged and used in reclamation
of the site?
33. Please provide details regarding your proposed dewatering
operations. What pumping rate do you anticipate will be necessary
to dewater the site? During what time periods do you intend to
operate the site each year? Will pumping be con tinous or
intermittent during these periods? Have you obtained authorization
to use CCWCD's concrete ditch as proposed? Does this ditch have
sufficient capacity to handle the discharge from your dewatering
operations plus flow attributable to CC WC D's use of the ditch?
- ,~~w~
