' • • Page 2
' 6. rn 1979 ~~r. Stegner, our neighbor to the north, had this property
proven to be the. most prime farm ground in [he entire area consequently .
causing the la~'orte by-pass to be relocated.
7. The concern of the beautification and the maintaining of the ponds
for the mining operation have proven very valid.
On the last special review, a plan was to be submitted within 50 days
for detailed landscaping and the implementation o€ a plan to be accomplished
within 1 year to create a clean park like atmosphere. The ponds on the East
still look and smell like a sewer lagoon and they haven~t been in operation
' there for years.
It is my understanding that the policing of these type of projects is
to be done by the planning commission. The rock crusher was not located in
the southwest corner. The hours of operation were not adhered to and dust
' and blowing debris have become a major pzoblem.
8. lie addressed traffic and the possibility of widening the road to
' allow the residents living in the area to have access to Taft Hill with-
out a prolonged delay each time. ~o improvements have been made.
9, l.'e chose to live in this area due to the beauty and the quiet, clean
' enviroment and we are located out of the 500 year flood plane. The property
that Sterling is planning to mine is located directly across from my property
on Taft Hill. kith all the gravel that lies in a flood plane and the mine
' sights that Sterling all ready own why not push for excavation in the flood
plane area where buildings should not be located?
' 10. We also feel that the Sterling Companies are taking advantage of
the fact that they are a big company and we are a group of people struggling
to make a living. The cost to fight this has been astronomical to all of us
and we Eeel they have deliberately drug this out to try to dissuade us. Our
' way of life and livelihood is at stake here as we frankly feel it has gone
on long enough.
' Aren't we, as property owners, as entitled to a good quality of life
and the pleasures of our peaceful, quiet, beautiful surroundings as Sterling
is to make more money--especially due to-the fact that they all reed~~ have
40 years of mining pzoperty available to them?
The majority of the property owners are, at the very least, middle aged.
i:e, at least, would 11ke to spend the remainder of our years peacefully and
able to enjoy our home.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this Letter and please
' consider our position carefully when making your decision.
' Sinc elv, ~i ~
./r •
/ ~ ,/ /
C`a Twin F?.
