- •
reset at a location further north from the stripping of our rock
• removal operations. This fence relocation was as indicated in
the 1985 report. The entire perimeter of all the mining
operation remains fenced and secured and is subject to constant
patrol to insure no breakage in the fencing perimeter.
Asphalt Paving Co, continues to maintain a hard-surfaced road
from Highway 93 to the quarry pit area, including portions of
Colorado Highway 93 which are classified as acceleration/
deceleration lanes to the main entrance. It should be noted that
a new entrance road was constructed in 1985 under a Colorado
Department of Highways state road project. This new construction
has been a major safety improvement. The site distance both
north and south from this entrance road has been carefully
preserved; the integrity of the acceleration/deceleration lanes
to this entrance road has been improved. This major improvement
in the entrance from SH93 meets all criteria established by the
State Highway Department. This roadway area will be periodically
swept, when needed, in order that it may be kept reasonable clean
of dust and so that most all spillage is removed from the roadway
surface. The under-road cross culverts and cattle guard areas
continue to be cleaned and maintained to insure positive water
drain patterns. Loaded trucks continue to be inspected at the
main scale house before leaving the site to minimize the loss of
excessive materials that may spill from the truck on its trip to
the designated delivery point.
• As per the resolutions of the previously approved mining plan, we
continue to progress from the south end of the dike in a
northwest to southwest angular vertical cut. This removal
process continues to screen the main crushing operation from the
view of residences to the east. All setbacks and safety
precautions continue to comply with the operational plan as
previously submitted to the Colorado Mined Reclamation Hoard.
Water Turbidity: Water turbidity testing is continuing under the
laboratory analysis work of Coors Spectro Chemical Laboratories
when applicable. If and when turbidity tests are run, the
results are forwarded to the Denver Water Board. Be advised that
no testing was done this past year due to the lack of any
circumstances requiring such testing. There are no new water
sources used either from mining or reclamation. Any new sources
will be identified upon their use. It is important to note that
Asphalt Paving Co. has not received one negative comment
regarding water from the Denver Water Department.
As previously reported, Asphalt Paving Co. and the Denver Water
Board consummated a water purchase agreement allowing water to be
obtained from Upper Long Lake for our activities at Ralston
Quarry. A water line from the lake to the crushing and
processing areas in the quarry was installed and is in use. This
installation is a major improvement.
• 2
