B. REGRADED AREA SAMPLING
• Requirement
As outlined in Exhibit 6. Geological Information, item #4,
Overburden Sample Program of the Colowyo Permit, a regraded
overburden sampling program is required at a density of one
sample per five acres of regraded area.
Response
Colowyo continues to utilize the "State Plane Coordinate
System" as the grid system for sampling regraded overburden
areas. Refer to Exhibit 14. 1991 Annual Report Map, for the
location of the sampled areas. Continued use of the
intersecting lines provide a uniform square grid system of
approximately five acres per square. During 1991 a total of
24 regraded area samples were taken representing approximately
120 acres of additional regraded overburden area. The
• analyses are included in Exhibit 13. Overburden Data -
Reclaimed Areas.
No suspect materials were encountered during the sampling
program. In fact, personal observations indicate much of the
regraded spoil material exhibited the characteristics of
highly weathered, subsoil/parent material very suitable as a
"subsoil" under the replaced topsoil.
6. REVEGETATION MONITORING
Requirement
Rule 4.15.1(4) of the Colowyo Permit contains a plan for
monitoring the success of revegetation.
L~
9
