• The monitoring will consist of frequency measurements the
first growing season, herbaceous cover measurements and woody
plant density the second growing season and every third year
thereafter, unless monitoring indicates a need for corrective
action. The results of the vegetative monitoring will be
submitted to the Division in an Annual Report.
Response
During the summer of 1991, Colowyo completed vegetation
monitoring on the following areas:
A. Herbaceous Frequency and Density of the 1990 Revegetated
Area
B. Herbaceous Cover of the 1989 Revegetated Area
C. Woody Plant Density
Refer to Exhibit 14. 1991 Annual Report Man, for
additional details as to the location of these areas.
A. HERBACEOUS FREQUENCY AND DENSITY OF THE 1990 REVEGETATED
AREA
• The area seeded in the fall of 1990 was undergoing the
first growing season. Past sampling methodologies continue to
be used to obtain vegetation data. Two hundred fifty
placements of a 30 cm X 60 cm frame was used and species
occurrence was recorded.
The data has been summarized and the top 20 species by
occurrence is presented in Table 2. 1990 Revegetated Area
Herbaceous Frequency and Density. The data indicates a
reasonably diverse, successful establishment of desirable
perennial grasses and forbs, as well as the expected number of
annual grasses and forbs.
•
10
