Scope of Work
Page 2
3.0 Scope of Work and Specifications
3.1.1 Site Preparation - The site will be prepared by
removing guardrails as necessary along the mine access
road to allow access to the work area. The mine
access road will be reduced to one lane of travel,
barricades will be erected to delineate the travel
lane and the work area. One lane of traffic must be
kept open at all times. A drilling pad will be
constructed as shown in Drawing $ 2201.5. A portion
of pavement on the east end of the drill pad will be
removed to allow construction of a ramp onto the pad.
The pavement will be replaced upon completeion of the
job.
3.2.1. Drilling - To obtain an approximate depth and
location of the bedrock, West Elk contracted Rocky
Mountain Geotechnical to auger drill 2 holes to
bedrock along the mine access road, additionally a
test pit was dug with a hydraulic excavator to further
determine the extent of bedrock from the road.
Locations of drill holes and the test pit are shown on
Drawing # 2202.0. The logs of the holes are included
in Exhibit C.
Holes for the soldier pilings will be air rotary or
foam drilled using a 15 inch bit. It is planned to
drill the holes from west to east.
